What this area is like
Rishiri rises as a single volcanic peak from the sea, and Rebun is known for alpine flowers from June to August. Off the Rumoi coast, Teuri is a breeding island for seabirds such as rhinoceros auklets.

Ferries run from Wakkanai to Rishiri and Rebun (about two hours) and from Haboro to Teuri and Yagishiri. Ferries can be cancelled in rough weather.
