What this area is like
Kirishima Jingu is a bright vermilion shrine in a cedar forest, linked to the myth of the gods’ descent. Kirishima Onsen-go has sulphur hot springs on the mountainside, and Sakamoto Ryoma came here on what is called Japan’s first honeymoon.
