Ogasawara: a separate long-distance sea trip

Start with the sailing calendar to Chichijima, then choose accommodation and guided activities. Ogasawara is a separate journey from the Izu Islands, not a quick extension to a city break.

Address
Chichijima, Ogasawara Village, Tokyo
Access
The Ogasawara-maru links Takeshiba and Chichijima in about 24 hours each way. Use the actual sailing calendar for the full trip length.
Time to allow
Set the trip length from the outbound and return sailings; allow several days on the island
Hours
Ship departures and local tours follow their own calendars. Mother Island needs a separate connection and plan.
Cost
Compare ship class, accommodation, meals and activities. Do not treat a ship fare as a complete package price.

A simple way to visit

  1. Choose both sailings before accommodation.
  2. Book meals, accommodation and suitable guided activities.
  3. Leave time before onward travel after the return crossing.

Make the most of your visit

Check activity conditions, protected-area rules and guide requirements. Keep flexibility for sea conditions and itinerary changes.

Rainy-day planning

Follow operator and local guidance and keep a rest-day option. Reconfirm the sailing before arranging onward mainland travel.
