What this area is like
The thatched villages of Gokayama in Nanto are a World Heritage site. Takaoka has a great bronze Buddha and Zuiryuji, a national-treasure temple, Himi is famous for winter yellowtail with views of the Tateyama range across the bay, and Tonami holds a tulip fair in late April.
