What this area is like
Kashima Jingu is one of eastern Japan’s oldest shrines, with a deer park in its forest. In Itako, boats glide past iris gardens from late May to June, and around Lake Kasumigaura a long cycling road passes lotus fields. Tsuchiura holds a big fireworks competition in autumn.
