What this area is like
Hakata is the station and business district; Tenjin is the shopping centre. In the evening, yatai food stalls open along the river in Nakasu and in Tenjin. Kushida Shrine is home to the Hakata Gion Yamakasa festival in July.
Yatai have few seats; order a dish and a drink, then make room for the next guests.
